Willing to Fail

He’s careening down the lonely trail
Over hill and under dale.
Throwing petals over and under,
Trying to make the tears surrender,
To his ever-searching will;
Striving to make his heart stand still
As he convulses up the lonely trail.
The answers are ever before
Laughing at him with magic lore.
So he searches—not in vain:
He will still continue to gain
To find the truth amidst
The lies—the evil twist.
Blazing through the lonely trail.
He sees the truth just before
Someone laughs and slams the door.
But yet he is not dismayed,
He knows that he can’t be strayed!
He will stick to the lonely trail
And find the answers—or fail.

Branches Adrift

A word to those upon the branches of my family’s tree:
I’d like to ask you who you wanted to be,
And if you were able to see. . .
That life is a gift.

What ambitions did you dream to accomplish?
What empire held your wish?
And did you succeed at finding bliss?
Or learn that life is more--not a burden to lift.

Is your tale recorded throughout the ages?
Were you bold or courageous?
Or did you labor all day for your wages?
Maybe you invested in life itself--not letting it mindlessly sift.

Perhaps you did not change the earth,
But were dipped into consequences at birth;
And sold as a slave with a strange mirth.
Then did you know the price of the priceless gift?

Could you have died alone?
And is all that is left whitewashed bone?
Or were there countless treasures that you did own?
But I guess all that matters is if you led your life with abandon--not adrift.

Never, Nope, Maybe. . .

Here is a "ditty" I wrote not that long ago. I might make it in to a poem in the future.

I'd never want to be a king.
No matter how the courts could sing,
The work would just be much too hard:
I'd rather sit and be a bard!

p.s. this has "meter"--in other words a beat. That's why it is so catchy.

Rock Solid

.                 diamond
.              a jewel that

.   and makes it dance for joy.
.     It binds with only a sim-

.           reminds of that

.              when it was
